How booking a DJ actually works

You need a wedding DJ. You’ve found a DJ who you love. But – how do you actually
hire that wedding DJ? What’s the process NOW to make sure that
your wedding THEN goes like you want it to? I’m Robbie Matteson with Backthird Entertainment
– welcome back to Wedding DJs Made Easy. So I’m going to walk you through exactly
how the booking process works at Backthird – no mysteries, no surprises. Clients booking with us always start out by talking with an Account Manager – someone like me! Your Account Manager is your single point
of contact in the Backthird office. Before we match you with a DJ,
before you talk to musicians, before you choose a single wedding song
or spend a single penny, Your Account Manager works for you to make
this whole process as easy and as happy as we can for you. You might email your Account Manager or come
by to talk in person, but most clients start with a short phone call. We’ll figure out exactly what you need for
your day – things like the audio setup for your venue where you may not even know what’s
going to work best. You don’t have to – that’s our job. Your AM will also find out what kind of reception
flow and what kind of dance party are important to you, and we’ll match you with a DJ based on that. Backthird is what we in the DJ business call
a multi-op – multiple wedding DJs who all work for the same team. So while we try to match you with the DJ from
our team who seems like the best personality fit, your contract is with Backthird – not
with the individual DJ. What that means is that if your DJ
moves out of state 6 months from now, or retires from the wedding business, or has a major illness on your wedding day – a Backthird DJ from our team
is always going to cover you. So where does that contract come from? Well, after you talk with your Account Manager
they’ll email you a comprehensive plan. we’re We’re going to cover all your entertainment needs
for your whole wedding day. So in addition to your DJ that might include
microphones for your outdoor ceremony. It might include live strings during cocktails
or jazz during dinner or even uplighting for your hall. Whatever you and your Account Manager
decide you need, we’ll email you
in one plan, with one price. And if you’re not sure what you need or
can afford – we’ll send you three plans so you can compare. Your plan is summarized in a straightforward,
one-page contract we’ll email you as a link. If you like what you see, there are two things
you’ll have to do to hold your date: You’ll sign the contract electronically
through our secure e-signature software, And you’ll make your first payment, typically
between five hundred and a thousand dollars depending on which specific services you book. We cannot guarantee your wedding date without
your signature and your first payment! People call us every day for wedding music and although we may be free today, we may not be free in a week or in a month
if you don’t book your date. The good news is, all of this happens online
so reserving your date and your DJ with Backthird can be done in a couple minutes from your
laptop or your phone. What happens after you reserve your date? We’ll send you back a confirmation email
with a link to your countersigned contract so you know the date’s confirmed. And then we’ll set you up a personal login
for our online planning system. Then you can spend all the time
between now and your wedding month obsessing over which requests, which special dances and which friends and family to include in which parts of your wedding day. If you’d like to get started with Backthird,
the first step is to see if we have your wedding date available
by filling out the form below this video. You’ll hear back from your very own
Account Manager within a single workday, and we’ll see if we can’t make your wedding music
happy made easy.
